November 30

This semester Tennessee has experienced the worst drought in over ten years,
yesterday there were massive forrest fires in Gatlinburg,
people have been praying for rain for months...

Last night there was a massive thunderstorm that was accompanied with tornados (I was kept up most of the night laying on the floor on the first floor with a bunch of people I don't know from my building because of the tornado warnings...but that's a different story).
We have had flash flood warnings all day today.

In the midst of all this craziness it's time to start preparing for all the projects and exams that are crammed the week before finals...

So that's where we stand right now...but it'll all be okay
AND Christmas is coming!!

November 10

This whole semester has been about finding our worth in Jesus and not in what the world wants us to believe. Tonight at Worthy Now (the annual women's event at Lee talking about self worth) they said a lot that really stuck with me. We are not "worthy when"... (something happens or you accomplish something "great") but we are worthy right now despite our pasts and despite our future. We are often our own biggest enemies, we are the hardest on ourselves and are far too quick to believe the lies that are running through our heads that are constantly telling us that we are not worthy of love or attention and lead very insignificant lives.

However, they said that "we are not disqualified until we disqualify ourselves." I found that really eye opening because holy smokes we will never be left behind or disqualified from life by God because we were made for a reason and were given life to fulfill a specific purpose that is vitally important.

We are worthy NOW and even though it can be very difficult to see, we are fearfully and wonderfully made and there is a purpose for being where we are right now in life.

November 9

Thankful for Melon and crisp November air (finally)

November 8

Check out the super fun, cute, all around awesome Home Depot employee we just so happened to run into during our super normal night run to Home Depot to buy this super planned winter plant purchase.

Actually we decided we desperately needed to see Haley in action at work so we wandered around the store aimlessly, picked out this Christmas plant, and then I make them take an awkward picture together while checking out.

Thankful for these two fabulous friends :)

November 7

I've never been a part of a studio audience for a podcast until tonight.
Servecast tonight put on a night talking about social justice and benevolence with Dr. Mike Hayes and a student panel. It was cool to hear from them as they talked about how we should engage in what's going on around us and not sit around waiting on someone else to fix the mess.

Here's on thing that really stuck with me, "You will never not be broken" so you must take your brokenness and use it to help others around you who are also experiencing brokenness. We can't sit around and wait to suddenly be complete and perfect to then be able to do something to enact a change, because then nothing would ever get done, but if we take our stories and foster them into relationships with others then that's where the real change can begin to take shape.

November 6

Hard-core belly laughing with Trews is one of my most favorite things to do.
Super thankful for an afternoon with Aunt Laura and Lucy laughing over events from summer 2010, changing the gas tank on the grill, cooking all afternoon, and learning how to properly spell "imbecile" while judging Trivia questions ;)

November 5

Super thankful for time with these two,
introducing Lucy to both Pitch Perfect movies, having to maneuver our way into the parking lot of the Papa Johns, and a fun college sleepover with Lucy :)

November 4

Thankful today for fall colors, sunbursts, and an afternoon at the farm :)

November 3

It's November 3rd.

Thankful for an evening with Melon and Jansen sunset chasing and sharing lots of laughs together :)

Jansen finds her way onto my blog a lot because I am so incredibly thankful for her :)
